An accident occurred on Monday at the Ife-Ibadan Expressway which claimed the life of one while four others sustained injuries.

It was gathered that the accident occurred when a Navy blue Toyota Sienna traveling toward Ibadan lost control and veered off the road into the bush.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osun Command, Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi, confirmed that one person was killed in the accident while four others sustained injury.

11 passengers were inside the Sienna bus when the accident occurred as a result of speed limit violation. One male passenger died while two females, one male, and a female child were injured. Six other passengers escaped. The injured victims have been taken to Obafemi Awolowo Teaching Hospital and the dead victim was deposited in the morgue,” she said.

The Ugandan army has confirmed the death of a pilot, Captain Caroline Busingye, in a helicopter crash after take-off near Entebbe on Thursday.

Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) spokeswoman Brig Flavia Byekwaso who made this known said the incident happened during a flight training session.

Today afternoon at about 2:15 pm a jet ranger piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight came down immediately after take-off near Lido beach. The two were rushed to the hospital to ascertain their health,” she said.

The deceased was later identified as Captain Caroline Busingye.

Four people lost their lives on Saturday as a result of an accident that involved a DAF truck and a commercial bus on the Ijebu Ode/Oru Road in Ogun State.

The spokesman of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Mr. Babatunde Akinbiyi disclosed that the accident occurred at about 1:15 pm and was caused by excessive speeding and loss of control on the part of the DAF truck driver, he then left his lane and rammed into a bus loaded with kola nut in the opposite direction.

The bus was going to Ibadan from an unknown destination while the truck was heading towards Ijebu-Ode from Ibadan axis. All the passengers in the bus, including the driver and three women, died on the spot,” Akinbiyi said.

Akinbiyi said two other persons were injured in the accident while the deceased had been deposited at the morgue of Ijebu- Ode General Hospital, the injured truck driver and one other were also taken to the same hospital.

He also warned drivers of articulated vehicles against reckless and dangerous driving as well as excessive speeding because of its attendant consequences.
