The Moroccan Navy have gathered 242 migrants from Sub-Saharan Africa who were trying to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Spain in boats not suited for their journey Friday, June 26.
Migrants rescued including fifty women and twelve children from several inflatable boats which had developed a fault along the journey.
According to our source, most of the migrants rescued are unwell and needed medical attention, some of which were taken to port.
The International Organisation for Migrants said more than fifteen thousand such migrants have made it to Spain this year, twelve thousand of which came by sea route and over two hundred of them died in the attempt.
Noting that last year, the European Union gave Morocco One hundred and forty million euros to support efforts to curb human traffickers in the country.
