Parts of the Delta State Police Command headquarters in Asaba have been gutted by fire, destroying the communication control room on Thursday.
Spokesman Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bright Edafe disclosed in a statement that the fire started around 2.45 pm and affected parts of the control room.
Edafe explained that the prompt response by firefighters prevented the fire from escalating. Adding that the cause of the fire was unknown, but he suspected a spark from the communications engine room.
The police spokesman said the investigation into the incident had begun.
