Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC in Borno State have arrested a 24-year-old Aliyu Muhammed on Wednesday, June 6 for supplying Improvised Explosive Device (IED) materials to Boko Haram terrorist in Maiduguri.

The Commandant of the Corps Ibrahim Abdullahi disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview at Maiduguri.

Abdullahi said men of the command ha previously arrested the suspect on April 25 following intelligence reports on his way to supply bomb materials to Boko Haram terrorists.

According to him, there was no sufficient evidence to initiate action. The information they got was that the suspect supplies mobile phone batteries, wristwatches and laptop computers used for setting off IED’s designed to inflict massive causalities.

The suspect operates several bank accounts, where he receives funds from Boko Haram in the last six months but he has been pretending to be a tricycle operator.

He also has a third party account where he received a large sums of money from the Republic of Chad.

Abdulahi further said that they have tracked down some of his transactions especially at commercial money transfer centres within Maiduguri.

He commended the commitment of the command on their efforts in the counter-terrorism campaign within the NorthEast.

The suspect to be handed over to the 7 Division garrison of the Nigerian Army for further interrogation, Abdulahi added.
