President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has announced that a dozen pro-democracy activists should be released from prison in Algeria, and more are expected to be freed under his pardons.

President Tebboune announced this days ahead of the second anniversary of the start of demonstrations that forced the resignation of his predecessor, Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

It was gathered that many of the activists were imprisoned for posting anti-government comments on social media.
