Ghana’s government has announced the new dates set for funeral and burial services for ex-Ghanaian President Jerry Rawlings.
The former president will now be laid in state for public viewing from January 24 to 26 and burial service held on January 27.
The statement from the government comes weeks after some traditional rulers in Ghana were outraged over the burial arrangements for Mr. Rawlings.
Recall that the funeral planning committee last month said the funeral of Jerry Rawlings who died at the age of 73 last year, will be held on December 23 at the Independence Square in Accra. But this was rejected by some traditional leaders from the Volta Region where Rawlings hails from.
