The South African government has announced that the opening of state-run schools has been pushed back by two weeks, because of the second wave of coronavirus cases.

The education ministry has set the 15th of February as the new resumption date.

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga was in absentia, so her deputy Reginah Mhaule made the announcement in her place on Friday.
