Guinea’s President Alpha Condé has announced his plans to run for the third term in office as a candidate for young people and women in the upcoming elections.
The President’s announcement about running for a controversial third term has sparked protests in the country.
He stated that he was the best choice for the two groups.
President Condé, 82, hailed women as important pillars in the society while speaking during a video conference with female political activists on Wednesday.
Recall that he was first elected in 2010, thereafter he pushed through a constitutional change in a referendum in March which now allows him to stand for a third term.
