Trial Of Sudan Former President Begins

Local media has disclosed that the trial of Sudan’s ex-President, Omar al-Bashir, has started in the capital Khartoum.

He is facing charges over the military coup that brought him to power in 1989.

Reports has it that, if convicted, the former president who had ruled Sudan for 30 years, could face death penalty.

Omar al-Bashir has also been indicted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes and genocide in the western Darfur region.
