Dubai Should Have Extradited Hushpuppi to Nigeria – Lawyer

Gal Pissetzky, counsel for 37-year-old Nigerian fraudster and Instagram celebrity, Ramon Abbas Olorunwa aka Hushpuppi, has claimed that his client should have been extradited to Nigeria, his country of citizenship.

The Chicago-based lawyer claims Hushpuppi was “kidnapped” from Dubai by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

According to the BBC, Pissetzky on Friday said, “In my opinion, the FBI and the government here acted illegally when they kidnapped him (Hushpuppi) from Dubai without any legal process to do so.

“There was no extradition, there were no legal steps taken, there were no court documents filed, it was simply a call to the FBI. He is not a citizen of the United States, the US had absolutely no authority to take him.

“If Dubai wanted to expel him, they should have expelled him back to Nigeria. I’ve never heard of anything like that. That is the real story here.”

Hushpuppi was arrested in Dubai in June alongside 12 other members of his crew. They were accused of committing crimes outside the UAE, including money-laundering, cyber fraud, hacking, criminal impersonating, scamming individuals, banking fraud and identity theft.

They reportedly stole 1.6 billion Dirham (over $434 million).

I think Hushpuppi’s lawyer is very right about that claim.
I was also wondering about that when his extradition to the US was publicized on the Social media among other platforms. I thought perhaps, he also had a US citizenship and that probably was why he was to be extradited to the US.
If he wasn’t an American citizen and doesn’t have any valid American visa; then his extradition to the US is totally illegal just as his lawyer claimed. His extradition should have been to Nigeria and not to the US!

  2. But what is Nigerian saying on it?, no legacy process is absolutely wrong by FBI whence he is not USA citizen.

  3. Hushpuppi, can be extradited to the US, although USE does no have extradition treaty with the US , the was why it took them days to perfect the extradition. Husshpuppi is an internet terrorist who should be in Guantanamo, what’s the different between him and Osama.? The lawyer is just a noise maker, let him go and make his noise in court.

  4. He committed wire fraud and his victims are mostly foreigners. FBI will use him as a case study. He will go through a lengthy interrogations and lots of forensic investigations to figure out how he was able to defraud so many people, why he was successful, who aided and abetted in the process. They would want to know if he was acting alone or if there were a network of other actors with his.

You see; Nigeria as a country is dead among the living. The president of federal Republic of Nigeria doesn’t knows his duties. Swearing the oath of Office means to protect all the citizens of Nigeria(Including those residing abroad). It is the duty of president Buhari to make a claim of Hushpuppi kidnapped, protect him until Hushpuppi is release back to Nigeria. Buhari is a complete failure. Regardless of the alleged crimes… Nigeria as a country deserves country respect. Well! In a nutshell, Since the country leaders are also the terrorists, Nigeria needs a second colonization.
