COVID-19: South Africa’s President Bans Alcohol Sales

Following the surge in COVID-19 cases, South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday said the country is immediately returning to a ban in the sales of alcohol to reduce trauma cases and free hospital beds for coronavirus patients.

The country is also reinstating a night curfew to reduce traffic accidents. It also made it mandatory for all residents to wear face masks when in public.

Below are the additional measures being implemented to curb the spread of the virus and reduce the pressure on the country’s health system.
