On Monday, the Chief of Staff to Nigeria’s president tested positive for coronavirus. The Nigerian Center for Disease Control, however, made this known that as Abba Kyari tested positive, President Muhammadu Buhari tested negative.

Kyari recently visited Germany and Egypt for a meeting where he is said to have contracted the virus. He met with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion program and returned with no symptoms.

As soon as he returned, Kyari was reported to have held several meetings with the President , Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, ministers and other members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) until he started coughing during the meeting on Sunday.

He was said to have voluntarily submitted himself for testing and was informed of his status which prompted President Buhari to undergo screening for the virus.

Anyone who is suspected to have been exposed to Kyari have been advised to self-isolate.
