From midnight on Sunday, October 26, Fastjet Airline says it will suspend domestic flight operations in Mozambique.

Moreover, the airline revealed the information in a statement issued on Monday, October 22 in Maputo.

Meanwhile, all flights including codeshare flights with Mozambican airline LAM between Maputo, Tete, Beira, and Quelimane will be suspended.

However, the airline says it will refund all passengers who have already purchased a ticket to travel from October 27.

The statement was released by the airline Spokesperson reads:

“The decision to discontinue flight, taken after careful consideration, stems from the oversupply offered by other airlines and the negative impact this has on the airlines’ accounts, which lost US$2.4 million in the first half”.

In addition, the Spokesperson said the airline would resume operation as soon as the market conditions change in Mozambique.

Whereas, LAM Mozambique Airlines and Fastjet Mozambique’s six years partnership signed in March 2018 will also end on October 26.

In fact, Fastjet is a constitution of companies from South Africa and the United Kingdom.

It was the first foreign-owned company to offer domestic flights in 2017.

The airline linked the cities of Maputo Beira, Tete, and Nampula (Mscauhub).
