A 21 year old nursing student was taken while leaving her workplace and sexually assaulted.
She was abducted outside Tygerberg Hospital on Tuesday, August 3 and raped in the bushes nearby.
So far, her attackers are unknown and no arrests have been made yet.
She is presently receiving medical treatment at Karl Bremer Hospital’s Thuthuzela Care with counseling sessions made available for her.
Meanwhile, Health MEC Dr. Nomafrench Mbombo visited her and expressed shock over such a brutal attack.
He added that the department condemned the attack and is looking at how to prevent its reoccurrence.
Professor Karien Jooste, who spoke on behalf of the Department of Nursing Science at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, expresses his deepest concern on the safety of women in the country.
Above all, Jooste said the department is ready to be a partner in her healing process.
