A fire has ripped through the maternity unit at a hospital in Eastern Algeria, killing eight babies.
The fire broke out before dawn on Tuesday, September 23 in a hospital in the Algiers town of El Qued, 36 miles from Southwest of the capital.
However, eleven babies, one hundred and seven women, and twenty staff were rescued from the fire.
Moreover, the babies reportedly died from burns and others from smoke inhalation.
Meanwhile, dozens of fire engines were deployed to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is still sketchy.
The Prime Minister ordered an investigation immediately.
