About 640 Nigerians in South Africa have voluntarily registered to return home.
The Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Mrs. Abike Dadiri-Erewa disclosed this on Monday after a closed-door meeting with the Senate Committee on Diaspora in Abuja.
In like manner, she disclosed that the date for the evacuation of Nigerians living in South Africa was deferred following the need to get travel certificates.
However, the majority of them do not have legal papers while some have expired passports.
Recall that Air Peace Airlines volunteered to bring Nigerians willing to come back home at no cost.
The Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ferdinard Nwonye said the day for the evacuation will be announced soon.
Moreover, a reliable source said the evacuation may take place on Wednesday, September, 11.
