Zimbabwe’s President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed that the former President, Robert Mugabe, who is now 95 years old and has been in the Singapore hospital since April but he’s getting better and might be discharged soon.
His illness was disclosed, however, in November 2018 the ex-president was unable to walk due to ill health and old age.
The military placed Mugabe under house arrest after he was forced to resign in 2017 following a 37-year rule.
His removal from power paved the way for Mnangagwa, his former deputy to become the president.
Mnangagwa said in a statement that Mugabe has often been seen traveling to Singapore for medical check-ups but this time around he had to stay longer than usual as his physician advised that he should be kept under observation for much longer.
Due to Zimbabwe’s poor health services, many politicians go for medical treatment abroad.
