Video: Police attack protesters in Zimbabwe

Friday, August 16th- A banned street protest by the Movement for Democratic Change took place, and it became violent.

Police originally banned he protest on Thursday, saying they believed it would be violent. The MDC then tried to get the ban lifted, but the courts denied them. They protested anyway.

Many gathered in Africa Unity Square to protest against bad economic situations. Over five million Zimbabweans are in need of basic necessities.

Supporters gathered Friday against the ban, then the policed attacked the crowd. They fired teargas and beat people with batons. Reports say one woman had to be taken to the hospital due to injuries.
