Video: Foreigners flee stores in Soweto after residents loot

Wednesday, August 14th-A night of attack and intimidation took place in Soweto in the night as dozens of local resident ransacked, trashed and looted shops owned by foreign nationals.

The looting occurred in different parts of Soweto such as Moroka, Dlamini, Protea Glen, Dobsonville, Rockville and Zola

Police are doing all they could to restore calm in the area throughout the early hours of Thursday and investigate what sparked the violence.

Police Spokesperson Colonel Kay Makhubele in a statement said they were informed on Wednesday night that foreign-owned shops were being looted.
