Uganda: 10 people died in fuel tanker explosion

A tanker in West Uganda exploded on Sunday, August 18th causing the death of ten people.

The fuel truck was coming from Kenya and heading to DR Congo, when it suddenly went up in flames. After which it lost control and crashed into two commuter taxis and a car.

Nine bodies were recovered from the crash while the tenth body was found trapped under the truck.

Due to the fire from the tanker, several small shops and vehicles caught fire also.

Road accidents are common in the region because the roads are narrow and bad.

Fuel tanker accident are very dangerous, especially when people see the accident as a means of getting free fuel from it.
