Mayor of Mogadishu dies after injury from al-Shabaab attack

The Major of Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital Abdurahman Omar Osman has died of wounds sustained during the Military suicide attack on his office last month killing more than ten.

His Deputy, Ibrahim Omar confirmed he died Thursday, August 1 during treatment of wounds on his abdomen and head which he sustained in the targeted suicide attack on his office on July, 24.

Osman formally served as Somalia’s Information Minister, he became major of Mogadishu in 2018, he is remembered by his wife and eight children.

Islamist Militant group al-Shabab have claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was targeting U.N Special Envoy to Somalia James Swan, an American National, who had met with mayor shortly before the attack.
