4 killed as robbers attack Nasarawa deputy gov’s convoy

Three police officers and a civilian were killed on Tuesday, August 20, when men suspected to be armed robbers, ambushed the convoy of Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Emmanuel Akabe.

Akabe’s convoy was on its way to an official engagement in Abuja when it was attacked.

One armed robber opened fire on the convoy, running away after shooting four.

Three policemen and a driver were fatally shot during the attack.

Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Usman Samaila confirmed the incident but refuses to give details.

Although, Samaila said the Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe personally led a team of officers to the scene to assess the situation.

“ As I speak with you now, the commissioner of police, the deputy commissioner operations and other high ranking officers of the command have gone to the scene of the incident”. Said Samaila.

The deputy governor came out unhurt but in shock and was unable to speak to a journalist.
