Heavy downpour, Peace airline overshoots runway in Port Harcourt

An Air peace airline has overshot the runway and landed in the bush at the Port Harcourt International airport, Rivers State on Saturday, June 22.

The flight arrived at Port Harcourt around 4 pm from Abuja with Ninety four passengers and six crew during a heavy downpour.

There was no report of death and no passenger was injured as a result of the incident.

The General Manager, Cooperate Affairs Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Mrs. Henrientta Yakubu confirmed the incident.

Yakubu said even though the aircraft skidded the runway, the pilot was able to stop the aircraft with no life lost despite the downpour on its arrival.

She said the undercarriage of the aircraft did not sink into the soil and all passengers were disembarked successfully without any record of casualty.

The accident investigation Bureau has dispatched investigators to the site of the accident to know the cause and damage.
