The Telegraph newspaper in Nigeria has presented Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State the Best Governor of 2018 award. Ganduje was awarded for his alleged work in health and education sectors, despite allegations of bribery against him.

A few weeks ago, videos of Ganduje allegedly collecting $5 million bribe in form of kickback from contractors were released by The Daily Nigerian. Another video surfaced of the governor allegedly collecting money from another contractor.

“It is good to celebrate those that are making a difference in our lives,” said the Managing Director of Telegraph newspaper, Funke Egbemode, at the award presentation ceremony.

The governor continues to be under investigation by a committee of the Kano House of Assembly.

It’s a shame! The organizers of this award are no more than maggots who lick shit from one pit toilet to another. A governor that has bathed himself in mud of thick corruption should have been skipped in an award of this magnitude, except we have accepted corruption as part what makes a “best governor”. How were they given from the dollars? Corruption calls itself anti-corruption!
