The national coordinator of Ohandigbo Youths Organization (OYO), Chief Nduka Anyanwu, says the group is mobilising Nigerians for a mega rally in Abuja to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election.
Anyanwu, who said this on Thursday in Abuja at a meeting of the group, said that President Buhari has no choice than to run again in 2019.
“All is now set for the mega rally scheduled to take place in Abuja by first week of March, 2018, and Mr President has no choice than to once again listen to the voice of reason and declare to contest in 2019,” he said at the meeting attended by youths from the six geo-political zones of the country.
Anyanwu said the group had elected directors into various positions to coordinate mobilisation for the rally.
The South-west coordinator, Ahmed Bamidele, who picked holes in the letter written by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to President Buhari, said that it was a calculated attempt to tear the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) apart.
The group’s national coordinator, who said that Nigerians had decided to support President Buhari, added that no amount of blackmail from anybody would work against him because power comes from God.
He advised Chief Obasanjo to read the federal government’s reply to his letter , saying that the response had stated some of the achievements of the Buhari administration which Ohandigbo Youths had persistently outlined.
“Transforming a highly corrupt society like Nigeria is not easy. It requires a rare political will which President Buhari has demonstrated. This is why the president was honoured as the champion of Africa’s fight against corruption at the African Union’s summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia just on Sunday, 28th January 2018. Without mincing words, the success of the fight against corruption in Nigeria must have motivated the AU to pick the fight against corruption as her theme this year.”
