Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose has likened President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption fight to ‘Satan calling Judas Iscariot a sinner.’
Fayose said this in reaction to the reported posting of Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, to the ministry of interior.
Mr. Maina was sacked from the civil service in 2013 and was in 2015 placed on the wanted list of International Police (INTERPOL) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He was said to have fled the country after being indicted for alleged diversion of N2 billion public fund.
In 2012, Mr. Maina was accused of leading a massive pension fraud scheme amounting to more than N100 billion.
Reacting to the development, Mr Fayose on Monday said: “Didn’t I tell Nigerians that Buhari was not fighting any corruption? Didn’t I say that Buhari was only after his political opponents?
“Fellow Nigerians, are you now convinced that Buhari’s anti-corruption fight is like Satan calling Judas Iscariot a sinner?
“I said it then that the kind of corruption that will be witnessed in this govt of Buhari will be unprecedented, am I not being vindicated?
President Buhari on Monday ordered Maina’s disengagement from service.
