About 15 people are missing after a seven-storey building collapsed in a residential area of the Kenyan capital Nairobi, rescue services said on Tuesday, and authorities said they had asked its occupants to leave before it came down.
Officials said the building’s occupants had been asked to leave once it developed cracks.
According to Red Cross spokeswoman Noellah Musundi, a mother and her three children are among those trapped inside.
According to Pius Masai, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Unit, 128 tenants had been rescued and accounted for by midday.
“Most families cooperated and (were) evacuated safely. However, it is believed that some people may have been trapped. Rescue efforts are ongoing,” he said.
