Ghana's President Mahama concedes defeat, calls to congratulate Nana Akufo-Addo


Ghana's President John Mahama has conceded defeat to the opposition candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in the just concluded 2016 general elections.

In a tweet the president-elect, Nana Akufo Addo, stated: "A few minutes ago, I received a call from President @JDMahama congratulating me on winning the 2016 Presidential Election. #ChangeHasCome"


So far, the Electoral Commission has collated results from 231 out of 275 constituencies. Official communication is yet to be released.

The country is eagerly awaiting official results but Electoral Commissioner Charlotte Osei said they would be announced by Saturday once technical issues had been resolved.
