7-year-old boy lynched in Lagos for stealing garri (Graphic PHOTOS)

UPDATE: The mob action took place at the Alafiya bus stop in Orile area of Lagos State. The victim was alleged to be a member of notorious robbery gang in the area. Witnesses have dismissed claim that the victim was a child, but an adult in his 20's.

Earlier report...

A seven-year-old boy was set on fire in Badagry, Lagos State, Nigeria, for allegedly attempting to steal cassava flour, locally known as garri.
The yet to be identified boy was allegedly caught while trying to steal from a shop.

He was reportedly tied up and set ablaze by the angry mob.

Stones were hauled at him. A stream of blood could be seen flowing from his head.

The wicked crowd put tire on him and set him on fire.

This happened in a country where people who steal billions are celebrated.

  10. I cried uncontrollable seen this kind of inhumane toward a minor. When is Nigerians going to stop this attitude towards each other. These are the set of people who will be running after politicians who drained our economy dried begging for change. Every one involved shall pay with their life.

  11. instead of this, they should have cooked rice or buy the boy food because for a little boy to do this, then he must have been hungry....why set him ablaze, sixth commandment said...thou shalt not kill even if you are not a christian, put yourself in the parent's shoes or kill your child and see how it feels....why haven't they gone to the senators and other government officals embezzling money?they are setting a lil boy ablaze cos of garri...may God forgive them o...and may his soul rest in peace...smh

  12. Ironically those that perpetrated this evil are followers of the different political thieves in the country. Instead of storming the Senate and the House of Representatives and bomb the professional thieves stealing billions of dollars in naira equivalent, they killed the innocent boy stealing gari out of hunger. The blood of this boy will continue to hunt the families of partakers from generation to generation.

  13. God shall not forgive the people that did this... For Garri, you set a 7years old ablaze and before then stoned, Haba... This is pathetic... Nigerians don't think before acting. May his soul rest in peace

  15. Police must use all the graphic images that probably some of the people who assisted to that poor show would post online to identify some people through face identification in order to be able to put hands on the people who did that and bring them to court. Only an eye-for-eye sentence should be applied to the ones responsible of such a sad life ending of a seven year old. That's "death sentence". Just for stealing gari and they didn't know he did so because he was hungry. My mother would have taken him with her, feed him very well, shower him and bring him back home to his parents. If it's happened that he was a street kid, my mother the one who gave birth to me would surely adopt him forever and would never let him go. Pretty sad! I can't find words strong enough to vent my anger and fury at that. For stealing gari!

  19. I wish the perpetrators would be arrested and jailed for life. He was not killed because of garri, he is a member of an armed robber group that waylay and torture their victims. That does not mean the mob did something human. We are so crude as people is why we may not develop or know peace as a people. I see the killers and the killed as victims, had they known better they would have done better.

  20. Even when a dog steals.it's not treated like this. Shame to you all. What is food ? Does Gari has value than human life ?

  40. He was a victim of a tragic nation. 99% of the people involved in the killing at badagri are criminals themselves. Only a thief would treat a minor so barbaric for stealing dry garri. I pity Nigerians. It is the same lack of regards for human or ourselves that why a politician steals billions from treasury cause we as Nigerians our life is worth noting save some few cups of garri.

How l wish you all that partake in this evil act can do this to our politicians, I think this country would be good. Coz by the time you do this to one politician, the rest would be scared to embelso our money. No peace for the wicked, as many who have a hand in it,you shall have no peace.

  56. This is deja-vous! A young boy of about this age was shot to dead by policemen in Yaoundé because he was suppose to stand still in a road area prepared 4 hours before the president's departure. So sad, we are doing this to our children. These children are being stolen and trafficked from our neighbourhoods and the government and community does not do anything to stop the traffickers. Let is stop using the mountain's aid to kill an ant.

  62. No matter the amount of lynched, these guys can never stop, moreover robbery hasbeen existing since existence of earth and that's why they build prisons to evacuate them not by killing them because we don't know what normally lead them to such, meanwhile let's not forget that these armed robbers are born by human and some don't have guidance and end up in the street without learning any moral. We should also remember that Jesus set example by forgiving those that killed him before his departure. This kind of killing is inhuman behaviour and it is an eyesore. Pls let's preach love and forgiveness. May there soul rest in glorious peace

  63. I am crying! I am sick to the core right now. Those perpetrators have their day coming. Their end will be worse than this child. Look what they all did to a 7 year old child who maybe stole because he was hungry. Why did they not find out if he was hungry. I am hurting right now.

  65. We cried out when the xenophobia was taking place in South Africa, saying "Africans are killing african". For this incident, I think we did worse than what happened in South Africa, killing a 7 year old child just for a cup or two of garri. Wickedness to the highest level.
