VIDEO: Fire outbreak at 'The Address' hotel, Dubai on New Year's eve


So sad to hear that fire broke out Thursday at the popular Address hotel near Dubai's massive New Year's Eve fireworks display.
It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, which ran up at least 20 stories of the building. The building is near the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper at 828 meters (905 yards).

After living in America for about two decades, Patrick Awuah returned to Ghana to start a university that can train responsible leaders that would hopefully transform Ghana. Awuah left his job at Microsoft, where he earned millions as program manager to set up Ashesi University in Accra.

I thought this quite interesting. South African King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo was convicted of kidnapping, arson, assault and defeating the ends of justice for his actions against a group of his people.

Ghanaian transport minister resigns over bus branding scandal

Ghanaian minister of transport Dzifa Attivor, has resigned over alegedly rebranding buses with GHC3.6 million.

Government’s decision to spend a whopping GHC 3.6 million on re-branding 116 buses, has angered many Ghanaians, with the majority questioning how that outrageous expenditure could be approved under the watch of the President.

I was so touched by this story, and I'm so thankful for these Muslim brothers and sisters. A group of Muslims shielded 12 Christian passengers from Al-Shabaab militants who attacked their bus in Mandera, Kenya. Video below:

(PHOTOS) Meet the Nigerian woman running for president in Spain

Nigerian born Spanish lawyer, criminologist, forensic expert and writer, Helen Mukoro Idisi, has emerged the presidential candidate of an opposition party for the forthcoming election in Spain.

She has made history to become the first woman and an immigrant to emerge presidential flag bearer of a political party. She will be running on the platform of Union De Todos, a party she founded earlier this year.

VIDEO: 87 killed in Bujumbura, Burundi

Burundi's army said that 79 "enemies" and eight soldiers were killed during the bloodiest day in months of unrest on Friday, which left the streets of the country’s capital Bujumbura strewn with bodies, many bearing gunshot wounds. The violence began with coordinated attacks by unidentified gunmen on three military installations.

VIDEO: Ethiopia becomes first African country to own B77 flight stimulators

Ethiopian, the second most populated African country has acquired the first B787 flight stimulator, which the country now uses to train pilots. The airline announced the installation of Boeing 777 and Boeing 787 flight simulators manufactured by CAE Company, ahead of its schedule and would be ready for training.

VIDEO: Nigerian police shot a driver & killed his wife because of $10

In this video by PBS, a Nigerian tricycle driver and his wife were shot because  he refused to give a $10 bribe (Note - his story was concluded at the end of the video).

PICTURES: Uganda named 13th most beautiful place on earth

According to Buzzfeed, Uganda is the 13th most beautiful country in the whole world! Uganda is rated more beautiful than Nepal, Australia, Norway, Phillipines, Brazil, and India. Several African countries made the list including Namibia, Tanzania, and Kenya. South Africa was named the most beautiful of the 20 countries, and Nigeria did not make the list at all.
